Hello from the #MagicalGirlAlliance! We are proud to announce our first ever contest!

The object of this contest is to design, draw, and show off your own original magical girl/mahou shoujo character!

Not sure what "Magical Girl" means? Chances are you've heard of at least one Magical Girl series-- Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Tokyo Mew Mew, and Pretty Cure are some popular examples. TV Tropes has a very informational page that includes the definition of the genre as well as a long, long list of examples.

This contest is open to all deviantART members. Please read all of the rules and requirements thoroughly before you begin your entry! Questions can be directed to the club or to ~doodlemancy via note.

RULES

All submissions must be your own work. No copies, traces, recolors, or paint-overs. Use of bases is not allowed. Use of dress-up games, ripped video game sprites or models, Miku Miku Dance, or any "character creator" is not allowed.

Submissions must be new art drawn specifically for the contest. The character does not have to be new-- you may enter one of your existing OCs-- but you may not submit old art to this contest.

No grainy, blurry, skewed, dark, washed-out, or cluttered photographs of drawings/paintings. See here for more info about photographed submissions.

Please keep it all-ages! Don't submit anything you'd have to put a Mature Content filter on. Everyone is allowed to participate, so everyone should be able to see the entries and vote.

Do not submit a fan character. This is an original character contest; the character must be your own original creation. Please don't submit fan sailor senshi, fan puella magi, etc. etc.

Entries must be clearly magical girl related. Art of OCs in plain clothes with nothing magical going on will be disqualified.

One entry (1 deviation, 1 character) per person.

ENTRIES

UPDATE 1/17: Please say somewhere in your deviation description that it is an entry for the #MagicalGirlAlliance OC Design contest. Some people have submitted things to the contest folder that I can't tell if they mean to enter or not.

At minimum, your entry must include your magical girl OC in her costume. In your deviation description, please write her name as well as answers to these questions:

How old is the character?

What are her powers, and how did she discover them?

Describe your character's personality.

The rest is up to you. Feel free to add more information to your description, and more to your entry! Show us her transformation object, her weapons, her sidekick animal-- whatever you'd like! Have fun!

HOW TO ENTER

~~You do not have to be a part of #MagicalGirlAlliance to enter the contest.~~ UPDATE: You will have to join the club to enter the contest-- I had to close the folder to non-members because other people kept showing up and just dumping unrelated submissions into it. Join requests are automatically accepted so you'll be able to submit your entry immediately.

The contest folder can be found here, and anyone can submit to it. If you change your mind about your submission, you will have to note the group.

DEADLINE & VOTING

Entries must be submitted by February 14th, 2013. Voting will take place between the 15th and the 22nd of February.
